Mersen Surge Product Offering

Mersen Surge-Trap Type 1 & 2 Devices WebLink

With a minimal investment, you can protect your sensitive control equipment or your entire facility from surge events.  Any facility with motors stopping and starting, light load panels being turned on and off frequently, and other potential power disturbances is at risk for damage caused by a surge spike.

LED Lighting Surge Protection

LED has become the standard lighting technology throughout the world.  However, LED fixtures are much more complex and sensitive to overvoltages than in the case of traditional light sources. For these reasons, the use of overvoltage protection systems is a very cost-effective investment, since it extends the life of the luminaires, ensures the cost effectiveness (ROI) of LED projects and reduces the costs of maintenance and replacement of luminaires.  Anywhere you install LED fixtures, the topic of surge protection NEEDS to be discussed.  Otherwise you compromise even the most robust of LED fixtures and installs.

TPMOV® (Thermally Protected MOV)

Used by OEM's throughout the world, Mersen's patented TPMOV® (Thermally Protected Metal Oxide Varistor ) eliminates common destructive failure modes associated with standard MOVs. Comprised of a voltage clamping device and a disconnecting apparatus that monitors the status of the metal oxide disk inside the TPMOV, the device is securely disconnected in the event of an overvoltage by an arc shield. Upon failure, the TPMOV is also equipped with a visual pin indicator as well as a normally open microswitch providing remote indication, if applicable.

TPMOV technology is used in all Mersen Surge device products.
